About The Position

Passionately Pets is hiring pet sitters and dog walkers for its in-home pet sitting and dog walking services. This part-time supplemental-income position involves visiting clients’ homes to care for their pets while owners are away. Visits usually last 15–30 minutes and vary according to client needs. The work includes outdoor activity and requires walking and driving in all weather conditions. Compensation is $24–$28 per hour plus tips, paid on a per-visit basis. Applicants from LGBTQ and POC communities are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

Northern Virginia residence within 7 miles of ZIP code 22301 is preferred.
Own reliable transportation to perform the job duties.
Own a reliable smartphone with internet access and a data plan.
Be extremely detail-oriented and able to follow detailed instructions.
Be responsible, reliable, dependable, timely, and punctual.
Be able to self-manage.
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Be compassionate about animals and comfortable working with and interacting with small and large animals.
Be willing to walk and drive in all weather conditions.
Commit to at least 6 months; a longer commitment is preferred.
Pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

Work weekdays, weekends, and holidays, according to client needs.
Enter clients’ homes and visit with their pets for varying lengths of time, usually 15–30 minutes.
Act as the primary caregiver for pets while their owners are away.
Walk pets as requested.
Feed pets as requested.
Clean litter boxes and cages as required.
Check that pets have ample, clean water and refill it as necessary.
Patrol homes for accidents or damage caused by pets while owners are away.
Clean up accidents or damage discovered in clients’ homes.
Communicate with management.
