About The Position

Passionately Pets, a local in-home pet sitting and dog walking company, is hiring pet sitters and dog walkers to care for local dogs, cats, and other companion animals. The position starts immediately and continues beyond the holiday season. Applicants must be willing to work mornings, midday, evenings, and weekends during busy periods, including the weeks before and after Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s, as well as the holidays themselves. This part-time supplemental-income role involves visiting clients’ homes for varying lengths of time, usually 15–30 minutes per visit, and serving as the primary caregiver for pets while their owners are away. Compensation is $24–$28 per hour plus tips and is paid on a per-visit basis.

Requirements

Residence in Northern Virginia within 3 miles of 22301 is preferred.
Have a reliable personal mode of transportation for the duties of the role.
Have a reliable smartphone with internet access and a data plan.
Be extremely detail-oriented and able to follow detailed instructions.
Be responsible, reliable, dependable, timely, and punctual.
Be able to self-manage.
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Be compassionate about animals and comfortable interacting with small and large animals.
Be willing to walk and drive in all weather conditions.
Commit to at least six months; a longer commitment is preferred.
Pass a criminal background check.

Responsibilities

Work weekdays, weekends, and holidays according to client needs.
Enter clients’ homes and visit their pets for varying lengths of time, usually 15–30 minutes.
Provide primary care for pets while their owners are away.
Walk pets as requested.
Feed pets as requested.
Clean litter boxes and cages as required.
Ensure pets have ample clean water and refill it as necessary.
Check clients’ homes for accidents or damage caused by pets.
Clean up accidents or damage discovered in clients’ homes.
Communicate with management.
