Pet Retention Specialist
About The Position
Maui Humane Society is an open-admissions animal shelter for cats, dogs, rabbits, guinea pigs, turtles, and other animals. We provide veterinary and routine care and help surrendered animals find a new home. We also provide humane law enforcement services, education and outreach, programs to retain pets in their families, and low-cost spay and neuter surgeries. Our team is resilient, compassionate to animals, creative problem-solvers, and dedicated to do what it takes to get the job done. We're excited to welcome you as our next Pet Retention Specialist. In this role you will support families in keeping their animals, preventing surrender to the shelter.
Requirements
- Strong customer service communication skills - externally and internally
- High comfort in interacting with animals
- Ability to use multiple computer programs efficiently
- Active and valid driver's license with ability to be on MHS insurance
- Ability to regularly lift and move 50 pounds (animal food, etc)
Nice To Haves
- Experience in animal welfare
- Social services experience
Responsibilities
- Tracking requests for services, monitoring impact of services rendered, reviewing budget and outcomes
- Coordinating with external agencies for services (vet offices, etc)
- Providing direct services to families in need (pet food, crates, leashes, etc)
- Organizing and training volunteers to support services
- Tracking costs and ensuring program guidelines are met
