Requirements

Associate’s degree in allied health
Graduate of an approved technical, professional, or vocational program
Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification (NMTCB)
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
State License
BLS/CPR
Nuclear Technologist
Nuclear medicine hot lab, radiation safety, nuclear medicine isotopes and tracking
Experience in a related field
NM Registered
Experience in a related field

Nice To Haves

To maintain PET/CT tech level, the technologist must be a department expert as determined by the supervisor/manager in PET/CT and one of the following engagement criteria - ACR point person, Department SOAR champion, new hire ambassador, department safety champion, patient experience committee member, peer interviewer.

Responsibilities

Utilizing unsealed radio nuclides and radiation detection equipment to perform quality diagnostic studies, administer therapeutic treatments, and perform PET/CT studies.
Performing high-quality diagnostic images utilizing proper techniques with established protocols.
Utilizing independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative for accurate diagnosis.
Demonstrating competencies in identification of pathology, patient positioning, injections, IV access, and new protocols.
Orienting new staff, troubleshooting equipment, patient and public safety, maintaining accurate records, assisting in student education, proper use and care of the equipment, working effectively with patients and families to provide patient care, maintaining a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental team members, complies with infection prevention procedures, and performs other duties as required.
Adhering to strict radiation safety practices as described in the Department of Radiology Radiation Safety Manual, as mandated by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the state of Ohio Department of Health Radioactive Materials Section.
Adhering to department protocols for patient education, safety, quality control, documentation and equipment care.
Meeting the minimum continuing educational requirements of the registry and the state of Ohio.
Adhering to the Practice Standards as defined by the Society of Nuclear Medicine.
Meeting all NM Technologist criteria including the training of new team members.
Acting as a department expert in PET/CT and engaging in one of the following criteria: ACR point person, Department SOAR champion, new hire ambassador, department safety champion, patient experience committee member, peer interviewer.
Actively participating in training and mentoring of new employees and students.
Using principles of service excellence in interactions with peers as well as customers.
Demonstrating competency through ongoing CBE's.
Demonstrating knowledge of equipment and its operating procedures through CBE's.
Selecting proper imaging protocols, parameters based on clinical history and following departmental procedures.
Demonstrating organizational and communication skills to promote the well-being of the department.
Organizing workflow, work area and ensuring all work is complete before submitting it.
Completing tasks initiated.
Maintaining a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental team members.
Demonstrating proficiency and reliability in the performance and assessment of required daily quality control procedures on all equipment prior to use.
Recognizing the need for corrective action and notifying Lead Tech.
Performing in compliance with the governing standards for Nuclear Med/PET as defined in the hospital department manuals, State of Ohio and NRC regulations.
Accurately ordering, preparing and administering radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with these regulations.
Orienting new employees in regulations.
Providing for patient, family and staff comfort, safety and care prior to, during and after a procedure.
Recognizing and responding to emergency situations and radioactive spills and taking appropriate action.
