About The Position

Pet Nail Techs at Pet Supplies Plus provide friendly, knowledgeable service to neighbors and care for pets in the store. The role performs quick pet services such as paw packages, nail trims and filing, ear cleaning, nail polish, and paw-wax application. Team members attend free, paid training through the Paragon School of Pet Grooming’s Nail & Ear Tech program. They may also recommend pet products, discuss food ingredients and animal care, process purchases, stock shelves, and feed and care for store animals.

Depending on the team member’s specialty and store needs, duties may include dog-wash attendant work; restocking supplies and completing laundry; keeping floors clean and dry; unloading deliveries with proper equipment; carrying purchases to customers’ cars; and cleaning, feeding, or handling animals. Pet Nail Techs support one another by providing backup when extra help is needed. The role is physically demanding, including heavy lifting and standing for long periods. Nail Techs receive their hourly rate plus 30% commission on each service they perform.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must pass a drug screening and background screening.
• Must be flexible to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Must be knowledgeable about animals and products to provide customer service.
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including lifting 40–65 pounds and standing for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Perform pet services, including paw packages, nail trims and filing, ear cleaning, nail polish, and paw-wax application.
• Attend free, paid Nail & Ear Tech training through the Paragon School of Pet Grooming.
• Recommend appropriate shampoos and provide product guidance to customers.
• Process customer purchases accurately and efficiently and provide Preferred Pet Club membership information.
• Stock shelves and restock supplies.
• Feed and care for store pets, including cleaning habitats and handling animals.
• Answer customer questions about animal care and help them find or maintain a pet.
• Depending on duties, operate and supervise use of the bathing system and assist with dog washing.
• Complete laundry tasks, clean dryer filters and hair traps, and keep floors clean and dry.
• Safely unload delivery trucks using proper equipment.
• Help carry purchases to customers’ cars.
• Provide backup to other team members when additional help is needed.
