About The Position

The PET Labeler Operator’s primary responsibility is to tend the labeler machine that applies labels to containers of varying sizes. The Labeler Operator will monitor the product as it is being moved down the conveyor to ensure product bottles are stamped and glued with Product labels which meet all specifications as required by the customer. The Labeler Operator will thereby ensure continuous and efficient production that meets customer specifications.

Requirements

  • Basic math, reading, writing and literacy required.
  • Ability to identify all machine and work center stop buttons, machine guards, belts, hoods, doors and safety warnings, among other items, to ensure safety and efficient operation of assigned machines.
  • Previous experience, aptitude and/or willingness for hands-on mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Basic Computer skills strongly preferred.
  • Regular and reliable attendance required.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be always worn in the Production Area.
  • Must be able to communicate with all levels of management and maintenance.
  • Ability to safely use sharp instruments, hand tools, mechanical tools (such as wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.) and a Non-Powered Pallet Jack.
  • Ability to safely use a hot glue gun and replace the glue stick as needed.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment where priorities change frequently.
  • Ability and willingness to work as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the machine that applies adhesive to product labels, and then adheres the labels to PET bottle containers of various sizes, shapes and formats.
  • Constantly monitor and manually load label materials in the feeder, ensuring proper orientation as necessary for continuous, efficient and smooth Labeler machine operation according to specifications.
  • Ensure all codes and labels are correct for the product, legible, accurate and meet all customer, quality and legal specifications as required by Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
  • Adjust the labeler settings, controls and speed as needed, along with monitoring the system application to ensure that labels are applied according to specifications.
  • Ensure labels are aligned and visually appropriate on the containers according to customer specifications, adjusting and revising labels as needed per the SOP’s.
  • Check and adjust camera settings as needed.
  • Record boxes of labels and lot numbers as required by SOPs for auditing purposes.
  • Maintain cleanliness of bushes, glue pads and needles as required to meet and/or exceed standards.
  • Constantly monitor for foreign material risks as the bottles are moved through the labeler, and down the conveyor.
  • Constantly monitor for leaking or damaged product containers as they move into and out of the labeler and down the conveyor.
  • Load specified Hot Melt adhesive into glue machine as needed.
  • May remove and discard damaged or inadequate bottle materials.
  • Ensure correct setting of dud detector.
  • Ensures continuous, efficient and smooth labeler machine operation.
  • Log run and down times, as well as reasons, for audit purposes.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area around the labeler area.
  • Other duties, as needed.
