Lowcountry Oncology Associates is seeking a PET/CT Technologist to perform diagnostic PET/CT and CT Imaging procedures as directed by a physician. The role is essential for providing patient care during these procedures. Requirements

  • SC Radiation Quality Standards Association License
  • Registered with The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Registered with the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB)
  • Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) approved school of radiography
  • Training and experience sufficient to competently perform PET/CT procedures independently
  • At least one (1) year of experience in Diagnostic Imaging
  • Knowledge of Nuclear medicine procedures and protocols
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology necessary to perform X-Ray testing, including body mechanics and patient movement
  • Knowledge of radiology equipment, including safety hazards common to radiology
  • Skill in positioning patients properly
  • Skill in preparing and administering contrast materials
  • Skill in identifying and correcting equipment problems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Responsibilities

  • Provide and perform all Nuclear Medicine procedures in accordance with the requirements of the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC).
  • Properly prepare, administer, and measure radioactive isotopes in therapeutic and diagnostic radiotracer studies utilizing a variety of equipment.
  • Explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and obtain cooperation.
  • Position equipment and adjust controls to set exposure factors.
  • Maintain and calibrate radioisotope and laboratory equipment according to the required schedule.
  • Wipe, survey, log, and properly dispose of all radioactive materials received in accordance with DHEC standards.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize radiation exposure to patients and staff.
  • Be responsible for quality control and reports for the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
  • Maintain radiation monitors and proper registration of radiology equipment.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to radiology.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of all equipment.
  • Order and stock all radiology supplies.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned to support the mission of delivering high-quality and compassionate cancer care.
