About The Position

Akumin is hiring a part-time PET/CT Technologist at its Thousand Oaks facility. Regional PET/CT Technologists provide patient-centered imaging care in a variety of settings, including freestanding outpatient centers, mobile coaches, and hospital-based or inpatient facilities. They explain procedures to patients and help put them at ease, while prioritizing patient comfort, safety, and satisfaction. Technologists interpret physician orders and instructions and select appropriate software options and imaging parameters to produce high-quality PET/CT images and studies that support accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent experience.
Certification in Nuclear Medicine by the NMTCB or ARRT (N).
State license, as required.
CPR certification.
Valid state driver’s license, as applicable.
Ability to work at several locations.
Strong customer service skills.
Organizational and multitasking skills.
Basic knowledge of computer applications and programs.

Nice To Haves

Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
1–2 years of experience in Nuclear Medicine procedures and studies.

Responsibilities

Ensure patient safety, including screening for contraindications and using aseptic injection technique.
Follow radiation safety regulations and properly document and use radioactive materials and care for patients exposed to them.
Produce high-quality diagnostic images.
Communicate effectively with customers and radiologists.
Train new technologists and/or patient coordinators.
Troubleshoot the scanner, mobile coach, and peripheral equipment, including monitors, PACS, and coils.
