About The Position

Sentara is hiring for a PET/CT tech! This role involves conducting PET/CT imaging of patients under the direction of a qualified physician. Responsibilities include patient positioning, preparation and administration of radiopharmaceuticals, operation of radiation-producing equipment and electronic radiology systems, patient room and equipment preparation, patient and family education, and maintaining supply inventory. The technologist will explain examination procedures and discharge instructions, complete departmental documentation, and comply with all radioactive activity monitoring and documentation. Additionally, the role requires adherence to all quality control and quality assurance standards set by state, federal, and local agencies. IV competency is required.

Requirements

  • ALD Radiologic Sciences or Trade school certificate
  • ARRT (CT) required
  • CT registry obtained within 2 years of hire
  • IV competency required

Responsibilities

  • Conducts PET/CT imaging of patients within scope of demonstrated competency under the direction of a qualified physician.
  • Positions patient for demonstration of correct anatomy/pathology.
  • Prepares, manages dose, and administers radiopharmaceuticals, radioisotopes, IV and oral CT contrast.
  • Operates radiation producing equipment.
  • Operates electronic radiology systems.
  • Prepares patient room and equipment.
  • Provides patient and family education.
  • Maintains adequate supply inventory.
  • Explains examination procedure and discharge instructions to patient.
  • Completes departmental documentation.
  • Complies with all radioactive activity monitoring and documentation.
  • Performs to all quality control and quality assurance standards as prescribed by all state, federal, and local agencies.
  • Maintains IV competency.
