About The Position

RAYUS Radiology is looking for a PET/CT Technologist to join their team. They aim to challenge the status quo by highlighting radiology as a critical first step in diagnosis and treatment. The PET/CT Technologist will operate assigned scanner(s) to produce diagnostic images of the patient's body. This role requires a patient-centered approach, providing PET/CT services within professional standards and with excellent customer service. The technologist will guide patients through the diagnostic process, explaining steps and answering questions and concerns regarding exam procedures. This is a part-time position (less than 20 hours) with working hours from 6:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Requirements

  • NMTCB or ARRT registered technologist in Nuclear Medicine, current and in good standing
  • Graduate of the American Medical Association (AMA) approved school of radiography
  • Licensed Radiological Technologist in the appropriate state, if applicable
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification
  • Must have training and experience sufficient to competently perform PET/CT procedures independently
  • Certification in imaging specialty

Responsibilities

  • Screens patient before exam for any precautions or contradictions pertaining to examination, using two patient identifiers to ensure correct patient and procedure.
  • Explains and prepares patients for PET/CT imaging procedures, explaining the procedure and positioning patients appropriately.
  • Performs routine and advanced PET/CT imaging procedures with minimal supervision, ensuring patient support throughout the procedure.
  • Adjusts PET/CT scan parameters correctly and as needed, utilizing dose reduction techniques.
  • Maintains positive attitude and working relationships with radiologists, referring customers, and other associates and peers.
  • Follows physicians' orders precisely and conforms to safety regulations.
  • Accurately maintains patient records within the Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Maintains an orderly and clean work area promoting good safety habits.
  • Maintains ACR toolkit and accreditation requirements.
  • Maintains equipment in good working order; cleans and disinfects equipment after each use.
  • Ensures compliance with all HIPAA guidelines.
  • Assesses, prepares, records and administers radio pharmaceuticals according to Nuclear Regulatory Commission and/or State regulations and departmental policies.
  • Administers fluorodioxyglucose (FDG) via intravenous methods to patients.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of safety-related work behaviors to ensure safe job performance and the maintenance of a safe work environment.
  • Reports contamination to Radiation Safety Officer.
  • Assists with maintaining an updated imaging protocol manual and software upgrades.
  • Monitors medical supply inventory and requests supplies as necessary.
  • Assists with training of new associates, providing resource and technical expertise.
  • Performs and records daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly quality control procedures on PET/CT equipment.
  • Performs daily and weekly departmental surveys to ensure compliance of radiation standards.
  • Completes other tasks as assigned.
