About The Position

Yorktown Animal Hospital is hiring a Pet Care Attendant to provide gentle, compassionate care for boarded and hospitalized patients. This role is ideal for individuals who love animals and are looking for a hands-on way to start or grow their career in veterinary medicine. The hospital cares for a wide variety of animals, including dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets, birds, turtles, snakes, and other pocket pets. Nice To Haves

  • Previous kennel experience is preferred, but it isn’t required.
  • Previous boarding, animal-care, or veterinary experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide gentle, compassionate daily care for boarded and hospitalized pets
  • Feed, water, walk, and monitor patients according to their individual care instructions
  • Maintain clean, comfortable kennels and patient-care areas
  • Observe pets closely and communicate changes in behavior, appetite, elimination, or overall condition to the medical team
  • Assist with bathing and basic pet-care needs as directed
  • Help maintain clean food and water bowls, bedding, supplies, and equipment
  • Follow hospital sanitation, safety, and infection-control protocols
  • Handle dogs, cats, exotic pets, and pocket pets with patience and care
  • Support the veterinary team with patient-care tasks as needed and appropriate
  • Help keep boarding and hospital areas clean, organized, and ready for patients
  • Provide plenty of attention, comfort, and TLC to the pets in our care
