About The Position
The Animal Hospital and Pet Resort at Southwood is looking for a compassionate, dependable Pet Care Attendant to join their team. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys staying active, loves working with animals, and takes pride in creating a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for every patient in our care. Pet Care Attendants are an essential part of the hospital, providing daily care and comfort to hospitalized and boarding pets, and supporting doctors and technicians behind the scenes. The position is full-time and offers flexible scheduling, including weekend shifts.
Requirements
- Genuine love of animals and passion for their care and well-being
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Dependable, organized, and eager to learn
- Ability to follow directions and maintain attention to detail
- Comfort working with dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, and other companion animals
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and remain active throughout the workday
- Positive attitude and willingness to jump in wherever needed
Responsibilities
- Feed, walk, exercise, and provide daily care for hospitalized and boarding pets
- Clean and disinfect cages, runs, treatment areas, and hospital equipment
- Monitor patients for changes in behavior or health and report concerns to the medical team
- Administer oral medications as directed by the veterinarians
- Maintain accurate treatment records and daily care logs
- Assist technicians and veterinarians with patient care as needed
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe hospital environment
- Ensure every patient receives compassionate care and attention throughout their stay
