About The Position

This non-federal, temporary enrollment opportunity is offered through the Agriculture Conservation Experienced Services (ACES) Program, administered by NEW Solutions under a cooperative agreement with USDA-NRCS. The enrollee will support NRCS by maintaining the Pesticide Properties Database (PPD), which is used by the Windows Pesticide Screening Tool (WIN-PST) to help NRCS staff design and implement conservation practices that mitigate environmental risks associated with pesticide use. The role is based in Portland and is budgeted for 5 hours per week. Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States and meet the stated minimum age of 55. Occasional travel may be required. The enrollee is not a federal employee or an employee of NEW Solutions; enrollment is at will and does not guarantee employment for a definite period.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience reviewing, collating, and analyzing pesticide properties data for use with NRCS business tools, or a master's degree in Agronomy, Water Quality, Agriculture, Natural Resources, Chemistry, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum age of 55.
• Legal eligibility to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Research and add newly EPA-approved pesticides and active ingredients to the Pesticide Properties Database used by WIN-PST.
• Prepare biannual updates to the WIN-PST Pesticide Properties Database.
• Review EPA pesticide property data and identify new pesticides for inclusion in the database.
• Research and populate missing data elements for new pesticides.
• Support creation of the biannual Pesticide Properties Database update.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in developing a revised process for future database updates.
• Complete annual information system security, anti-harassment, and civil rights training.
