About The Position

Intermountain Farmers Association (IFA) is hiring a Pesticide/Fertilizer Applicator at its Agronomy Center in Cortez, Colorado. The role involves loading and mixing fertilizer and pesticide formulas, applying products according to schedule, and following product labels and safety requirements. The applicator also maintains records, reads field maps and GPS devices, inspects equipment, and performs minor repairs. During the busy spring season, extended hours are often needed, including shifts of 12–14 hours.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Must have and be able to maintain a current CDL license, with the ability to drive applicator equipment.
Current pesticide license, or the ability to obtain one if hired.
Ability to lift 50 pounds and/or five-gallon cans of liquid frequently during a shift.
Ability to calculate discounts, percentages, and liquid and solid measurements using basic math skills.
Ability to interpret written and oral instructions.
Detail-oriented and self-motivated.

Nice To Haves

Three years of applicator experience is beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

Load and mix fertilizer and pesticide formulas.
Follow and interpret fertilizer and pesticide labels.
Perform applications in a timely manner and according to schedule.
Maintain application logs and other necessary records.
Read field maps and global positioning devices.
Handle hazardous materials properly.
Inspect equipment daily and perform minor repairs as needed.
Work extended hours as needed during the busy season, frequently including 12–14-hour shifts during the spring rush.
