About The Position

Responsible for the district integrated pest control management program. Oversee and apply pesticides and herbicides according to the District pest management policy. Model KISD core organizational beliefs and values; perform duties effectively and efficiently for the purpose of supporting and contributing to high student achievement. Provide program support and service delivery; communicate effectively within and across teams and participate in cross-functional work groups. Maintain a commitment to the District mission; model District expectations through personal leadership and actively support the efforts of others to achieve District goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Texas driver’s license with a record of safe driving
  • Texas Noncommercial Political Pesticide Applicator License within 60 days of hire
  • Texas Noncommercial Applicator License within 60 days of hire
  • Successful related experience
  • Knowledge of methods and materials for pest control and TDA regulations
  • Ability to implement policy and procedures
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to operate pesticide application equipment
  • Ability to read, interpret and follow pesticide labels

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day activities of the department including fertilizing and pest control.
  • Adjust work schedule to accommodate weather, state laws, and critical timing of control products.
  • Treat District landscapes and athletic fields with necessary weed control applications.
  • Implement the district integrated pest control program for the use of pesticides, herbicides, and other chemical agents to control pests, rodents, insects, and weeds at District buildings and facilities.
  • Ensure all pesticides used on District property comply with District policy and TDA requirements.
  • Maintain inventory of chemicals, supplies, and equipment and order additional supplies as needed.
  • Label and secure pesticides.
  • Maintain files required, including pesticide application records, pesticide labels, Material Safety Data Sheets, and records of complaints.
  • Participate in required TDA Structural Pest Control Service integrated pest management training courses.
  • Perform tasks related to maintaining District grounds as directed.
  • Assist other departments in repairs as needed.
  • Communicate with district administrators and staff about integrated pest management, including training, notice and posting, sanitation, and pesticide storage.
  • Post appropriate notice in district facilities prior to planned pesticide treatment according to TDA requirements.
  • Respond to requests and inquiries relating to pest problems from staff, students, parents, and the public.
  • Ensure all school employees who perform pest control have the necessary training and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment.
  • Keep vehicle, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
  • Inspect tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing.
  • Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
  • Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality.
  • Accurately report work hours using the time clock to report start and end times.
  • Utilize effective communication skills; ensure that all interactions are supportive, courteous, and respectful.
  • Pursue Professional Development activities; ensure that Professional Development activities are aligned with District goals and initiatives.
  • Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and verbal and written directives.
  • Comply with the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
  • Follow District safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
