About The Position

Under the direction of a supervisory officer in a State department, institution, or agency, as a trainee and productive worker, receives on-the-job training in government personnel practices and procedures and their application and does work which will provide practical personnel experience; does related work. This position is responsible for supporting the department’s human resources and talent acquisition functions, including system maintenance, recruitment efforts, employee development, and general HR support.

Requirements

  • Four (4) years of professional experience relevant to the position.
  • Possession of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Thirty (30) semester-hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.
  • Professional experience refers to work that is analytical, evaluative, and interpretive; requires a range of basic knowledge of the profession's concepts and practices; and is performed with the authority to act and make accurate and informed decisions.
  • All U.S. degrees and transcripts must be from an accredited college or university. All foreign degrees and transcripts must be evaluated for accreditation by a recognized evaluation service by the closing date of this posting.
  • Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle, rather than employee mobility, is necessary to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • Selected candidates must be authorized to work in the United States per the Department of Homeland Security, United States Citizenship, and Immigration Services regulations.
  • The State of New Jersey does not provide sponsorship for citizenship to the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Update and maintain the DEP ePAR system, providing technical support to employees across the department. Advise supervisors on best practices for completing PARs and rating employees.
  • Regularly update and maintain departmental organizational charts to ensure accurate and current information.
  • Research, select, and coordinate attendance at relevant job fairs. Compile and analyze data from these events and maintain ongoing communication with potential candidates through email and social media outreach.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of networking events and career development programs to support employee growth and engagement.
  • Utilize LinkedIn and other platforms to recruit new staff and maintain relationships with potential candidates.
  • Assist the Talent Acquisition and Career Advancement (TACA) team with journeyman promotions, six-month salary increases, and the hiring of summer seasonal and hourly staff.
  • Provide administrative support to HR Management, including report generation and completion of other assignments as needed.
