About The Position

This role is within the Criminal Background Check Team (CBCT) and focuses on ensuring compliance with federal and state regulatory guidelines. The specialist will be responsible for managing criminal history information, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring secure record storage. The position requires strong organizational skills, computer literacy, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. Fluency in English and Spanish is a key requirement. Requirements

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.
  • Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.
  • Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks.
  • Demonstrate the ability to respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of all Compass Connections policies and procedures.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
  • High school diploma, some college.
  • Four (4) to six (6) years of related experience and/or training.

Responsibilities

  • Meet all Federal and State regulatory guidelines and standards applicable to this position.
  • Provide timely and accurate records and data to the Compass Connections Executive Director.
  • Promptly report all security incidents to their chain of command.
  • Report any violations of background check standards process to chain of command immediately for reporting and resolution.
  • Participate in scheduled meetings, in-service trainings, and team decisions.
  • Work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed or requested by position supervisor.
  • Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct, including demonstrating respect for agency staff, children, and community members, and comply with required dress code at all times.
  • Ensure that criminal history information received from federal partners or other sources is used only for legislatively authorized purposes and not disseminated to unauthorized persons.
  • Maintain full confidentiality of personnel needs, issues, and concerns at all times.
  • Ensure maintenance and secure storage of all records.
  • Provide guidance to program Personnel Support Admin staff on out of state CA/N check requests.
  • Abide by Information Security Standards.
  • Participate in Security Audits.
  • Be familiar with the company policy regarding background check requirements for employment.
  • Complete enhanced training on specific responsibilities related to the background check process and ongoing compliance.
  • Complete Security Awareness Training.
  • Promptly report all security incidents to Chain of Command.
  • Work irregular days/hours, including nights, holidays, and weekends, depending on needs.
  • Frequently transverse from one location to another.
  • Meet all deadlines required by program supervisor and Federal partners.
