About The Position

The Florida Department of Corrections is looking for a Personnel Services Specialist-OPS to join the Office of Human Resources at the Central Office in Tallahassee, Florida. This role involves performing a range of independent professional technical tasks for the Payroll Department. The mission of the Human Resources Department in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to recruit, develop, and retain a skilled and diverse workforce dedicated to supporting the Department's mission. This position is not a Telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must possess customer service experience.
  • Must possess experience working a professional office setting.
  • Must possess two years of professional human resources/personnel experience in payroll, and attendance and leave.
  • Must possess experience reviewing and processing information from multiple documents and various sources to prepare an official document.
  • Must possess at least 6 months experience in FLAIR.

  • Payroll/ Accounting experience.
  • Experience working in the State of Florida's People First System.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with Payroll, Attendance and Leave, FMLA, Military, separations, audits, overpayments, warrant cancellations, on-demand payments.
  • Conducts advanced research in preparation of special projects and reports as assigned by the Office of Human Resources.
  • Performs high-level administrative functions within the Payroll Office including managing the Payroll Inbox for the Payroll Team.
  • Collaborate effectively with the Institutional and Field staff to ensure the accuracy of actions being processed.
  • Assisting with the coordination of the Department’s response to both internal and external audits related to the Office of Human Resources when needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
