About The Position

The Personnel Recovery Instructor IV will serve as an instructor for the client subject matter expert on personnel recovery tactics, techniques and procedures, with responsibility for planning, organizing, and presenting and/or managing the presentation of one or more of these courses and for evaluating training effectiveness to ensure that objectives are met. Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma.
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in managing and facilitating interagency Discussion and Operations Based Exercises.
  • Minimum seven (7) years instructor experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant hard skills tactics experience.
  • Top Secret Clearance is required.
  • Due to the nature of work at the client’s site, U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.
  • Expert knowledge of security concepts, principles, and practices to provide basic and advanced training in the application of personnel recovery methods
  • Expert knowledge of security programs, operations, and techniques, including terrorism and anti-terrorism operations, use of force, civil liability, and appropriate techniques, tactics, and procedures
  • Expert knowledge of current protective security methods to provide instruction that is consistent with currently accepted methods and practices
  • Advanced knowledge of adult learning principles, course development, classroom and practical instructional presentation methods, and methods for evaluating training effectiveness
  • Ability to immediately analyze, predict, and preclude situations to ensure training is conducted in a safe manner
  • Ability to establish and maintain liaison with personnel at all levels in order to plan and coordinate assigned responsibilities
  • Skill in oral and written communications to present training to a variety of audiences

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a recognized instructor development training course preferred.
  • Associate’s degree preferred .
  • Two (2) years as a level III instructor preferred.
  • Five (5) years of supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the functions, responsibilities, and duties of Foreign Service personnel preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the planning, organization, and instruction of personnel recovery tactics, techniques, and procedures.
  • Facilitate Operations-based Exercises in support of international security programs.
  • Facilitate Discussion-based Exercises to update and build plans and policies in support of international operations.
  • Review established training objectives, lesson plans, training materials, and instructional methods prior to the beginning of assigned courses.
  • Plan, prepare, and organize course material for presentation to students in classroom instruction, practical exercises, as well as field training exercises.
  • Coordinate the administrative functions associated with student records, instructor management, and course execution.
  • Evaluate training course organization and implementation in order to ensure objectives and standards are met.
  • Continually assess and ensure exams and exercises are effective in enabling students to meet or exceed course standards and objectives.
  • Review and analyze trainee evaluations, feedback from other instructors, and personal observations; suggest the need for revision to course content and materials or instructional methods as necessary to improve the training curriculum effectiveness and quality.
  • Participate in curriculum revision and development.
  • Continually assess and ensure curriculum currency and relevance based on current operational environments and threat assessments.
  • Evaluate the impact of planned or projected changes in programs and associated training requirements on the existing content, materials, and methods used for personnel recovery training.
  • Assist instructors in other security related subjects.
  • Research and review current open-source information related to client's security.
  • Present personnel recovery briefings to a wide range or audiences.
  • Keep abreast of current techniques, methods, policies, and procedures for personnel recovery events.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of policies and procedures for client's personnel recovery.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for all personnel recovery tactics, techniques, and procedures as well as reporting criteria and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Conduct operations risk management.
  • Provide assistance in conducting practical exercises.
  • Ensure training records are submitted in a timely manner.
  • Assist with Personnel Recovery Teams equipment inventory and maintenance.
  • Ensure optimum efficiency in the use of assigned resources.
  • Articulate instructional tasks and provide guidance on how to perform them; assist with performance evaluations.
  • Maintain requisite levels of proficiency in all duty-related techniques and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
