About The Position

The Shasta County Personnel Department is seeking a customer-focused and detail-oriented Personnel Assistant – Confidential to join our Talent Acquisition Team on a full-time basis. This role is a key support role in HR, serving as a first point of contact for employees and job candidates. Personnel Assistants provide administrative support to assigned programs and utilize various HR systems to implement and support activities such as recruitment, onboarding, training, benefits administration, and personnel changes. As a Personnel Assistant Confidential I/II, you will join a collaborative team and play a crucial role in supporting the County’s Departments and programs, providing jobs to our community members, and ensuring a positive employee onboarding experience. Your skills in organization, communication, and problem-solving will directly support the County’s efforts to attract and retain talented, qualified employees who positively impact the services provided to the County as a whole.

  • Personnel Assistant I – Confidential: Three (3) years of full-time experience performing varied and complex clerical work, including explaining policies, performing data entry, and processing forms and records.
  • Personnel Assistant II – Confidential: Four (4) years of full-time experience performing varied and complex clerical work, including explaining policies, performing data entry, and processing forms and records, including one year of experience equivalent to that of Personnel Assistant I.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of successful completion of related college course work in Human Resources, Public Administration, or Business Administration may substitute for one year of required experience for Personnel Assistant I.
  • One year of successful completion of related college course work in Human Resources, Public Administration, or Business Administration may substitute for one year of required experience for Personnel Assistant II.

Responsibilities
