About The Position

The Personal Trainer is responsible for providing exceptional fitness instruction, personalized training programs, and outstanding member service in a private country club environment. This position focuses on helping members achieve their individual health, fitness, and wellness goals through safe, effective, and engaging exercise programs. The ideal candidate is a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and service-oriented fitness professional who understands the importance of building strong member relationships, maintaining a welcoming fitness environment, and delivering the high level of personalized service expected at a premier private country club.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Current nationally recognized Personal Training Certification (NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA, or equivalent) required.
  • Current CPR/AED certification required.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of personal training or fitness instruction experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in a private country club, luxury fitness facility, resort, or hospitality environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with a diverse membership, including older adults, beginners, and active athletes, preferred.
  • Strong understanding of exercise physiology, strength training, cardiovascular conditioning, flexibility, and injury prevention.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to develop individualized fitness programs for members with varying abilities and goals.
  • Professional appearance, positive attitude, and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to establish and maintain long-term member relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented club environment.
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on member needs and club operations.
  • Must be able to push, pull or lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, stretch, twist or reach, walk, stand, stoop, climb stairs, balance and/or crouch.
  • Continuous repetitive motions.
  • Physical exertion over long periods of time.
  • Regular fitness conditioning

Nice To Haves

  • degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sports Medicine, or related field preferred.
  • Additional certifications in corrective exercise, senior fitness, golf fitness, or group exercise preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual fitness assessments to evaluate members' fitness levels, goals, and exercise needs.
  • Design and implement customized fitness programs based on members' abilities, interests, and objectives.
  • Provide one-on-one and small-group personal training sessions.
  • Instruct members on proper exercise techniques, equipment usage, and injury prevention.
  • Monitor member progress and adjust training programs as necessary.
  • Motivate and encourage members to maintain consistent fitness routines and achieve personal goals.
  • Stay current on fitness trends, training techniques, and wellness practices.
  • Deliver exceptional, personalized service consistent with the standards of a private country club.
  • Develop positive, professional relationships with members and their families.
  • Create a welcoming, supportive, and motivating fitness environment for members of all ages and abilities.
  • Proactively engage members to promote fitness programs, personal training services, and wellness opportunities.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding member information, health concerns, and personal fitness goals.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to member questions, requests, and feedback.
  • Encourage member participation in fitness programs, classes, and club wellness events.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, organized, safe, and professional fitness facility.
  • Monitor fitness equipment and report maintenance or safety concerns to management.
  • Ensure members follow established fitness center policies and safety guidelines.
  • Assist members with the proper operation of fitness equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of personal training sessions, appointments, and member progress.
  • Support the scheduling and coordination of training sessions and fitness activities.
  • Provide sport-specific conditioning programs for members interested in improving golf, tennis, pickleball, and other athletic performance.
