About The Position

The personal trainer will be responsible for conducting orientations and fitness assessments of new and current members. The trainer will also be responsible for acquiring new clients and forming safe and effective training routines. This position requires flexibility of work schedule which may include days, nights and weekends. It also requires occasional lifting of heavy objects weighing up to 45 pounds.

Requirements

  • Certification from a nationally recognized organization (ACE, NASM).
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Able to work with clients of all abilities.
  • General knowledge of fitness.

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience in a fitness facility preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct orientations and fitness assessments of new and current members.
  • Acquire new clients and form safe and effective training routines.
  • Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations for the use of exercise equipment.
  • Plan routines, choose appropriate music, and choose different movements for each set of muscles, depending on participants' capabilities and limitations.
  • Observe participants and inform them of corrective measures necessary for skill improvement.
  • Teach proper breathing techniques used during physical exertion.
  • Instruct participants in maintaining exertion levels in order to maximize benefits from exercise routines.
  • Maintain fitness equipment.
  • Monitor participants' progress and adapt programs as needed.
  • Provide students with information and resources regarding nutrition, weight control, and lifestyle issues.
  • Advise clients about proper clothing and shoes.
  • Promote Group Fitness Classes, membership sales, and record member information.
  • Perform stretches to relieve soreness, strains.
  • Schedule personal training sessions with clients.
  • Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.
  • Communicate with Recreation Supervisor and clients.
  • Provide information to Recreation Supervisor in a timely manner.
