About The Position

The Sandra and Leon Levine Jewish Community Center is a nonprofit, mission-driven organization founded upon Jewish ethics and values. We provide diverse social, educational, recreational, cultural, and wellness programs within a Jewish setting and serve as a welcoming community partner for individuals and families of all backgrounds. The Levine JCC is affiliated with the JCC Association of North America and is a beneficiary agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Charlotte. The Personal Trainer provides individualized fitness training and guidance to Levine JCC members, supporting their health and wellness goals in a safe, effective, and engaging manner. This role is responsible for designing and delivering customized training programs, tracking client progress, and fostering strong member relationships that encourage long-term engagement and success. Personal Trainers play an important role in enhancing the overall member experience by promoting safe exercise practices, supporting wellness initiatives, and contributing to a positive and professional fitness environment.

Requirements

  • Current personal training certification from a nationally recognized organization (e.g., NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA) required.
  • Current CPR/AED certification required.
  • Prior experience in personal training or fitness instruction preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to build rapport and motivate individuals of varying fitness levels.
  • Strong understanding of exercise science, program design, and injury prevention.
  • Ability to adapt training programs to meet diverse client needs and goals.
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individualized fitness assessments and develop personalized training programs aligned with member goals, abilities, and health considerations.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group training sessions focused on proper technique, safety, and goal achievement.
  • Monitor, track, and document client progress, adjusting programs as needed to support continued improvement.
  • Educate clients on proper form, technique, and injury prevention.
  • Build and maintain strong, supportive relationships with clients through consistent communication and encouragement.
  • Support member retention by helping clients stay engaged and motivated in their fitness journey, and by encouraging ongoing participation in Levine JCC programs and services beyond personal training.
  • Collaborate with Fitness & Wellness staff to ensure a coordinated and positive member experience.
  • Participate in wellness initiatives, promotions, and special events as needed.
  • Maintain current personal training certification(s) from nationally recognized organizations (e.g., NASM, ACE, ACSM, NSCA).
  • Maintain current CPR/AED certification and ensure documentation is on file with the Levine JCC.
  • Participate in team meetings, continuing education, and professional development opportunities.
  • Follow and enforce all Levine JCC policies related to safety, cleanliness, and proper use of equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming fitness environment.
  • Report equipment issues, safety concerns, and member incidents promptly to the Fitness Staff Supervisor or Director of Fitness & Wellness.
  • Maintain accurate scheduling, session tracking, and payroll documentation in accordance with Levine JCC policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all training sessions are properly recorded and follow established departmental protocols.
