About The Position

The Personal Trainer supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This part-time position supports the Wellness team by developing clients through integrated, quality exercise programs specific to the individual’s needs and goals. Requirements

  • Current NASM/ACSM/NSCA/ACE certified Personal Trainer certification required.
  • CPR Certified - Will be provided by the YMCA upon hire if needed.
  • Internal training completed within 45 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous Personal Trainer experience preferred, especially with Health Seeker and Active Older Adult populations.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and coaches session content appropriate to clients’ abilities; utilizes appropriate tools necessary to offer quality training; and provides feedback to clients and proper instruction in use of equipment.
  • Maintains a minimum of 5 clients.
  • Facilitates learning through multi-level instruction; auditory cues, visual demonstrations, appropriate tactile assistance; incorporates a variety of training methods and applications to accommodate learning styles.
  • Provides a safe and caring environment for all clients; supports goal progression and healthy behavior modification through proven training resources within the scope of practice.
  • Prepares for training sessions including preparing plans, organizing relative equipment, etc. May be required to set-up and break- down materials and equipment used for instruction.
  • Celebrates achievement of program participants related to program or personal goals, mastering of specific skills or overall health and well-being.
  • Administers and evaluates all appropriate pre-participation documentation. Track client progress and maintain appropriate documentation in client files and payroll software.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations. Obtain and maintain required training(s).
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
