About The Position

The City of Lenexa Parks & Recreation Department is looking for a knowledgeable and client-focused Personal Trainer to join our Lenexa Rec Center team. We’re seeking someone who is passionate about fitness, committed to helping others reach their goals, and dedicated to creating a welcoming and professional training environment. This position is responsible for delivering safe, effective, and individualized fitness instruction to a diverse range of clients. Personal Trainers conduct fitness assessments, design tailored workout plans, and motivate participants to pursue healthier lifestyles in a supportive and professional setting.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D.
• At least one year of personal training experience and one or more years of customer service experience.
• Current nationally recognized personal training certification or a degree in a health/science-related field.
• Must have or obtain First Aid/CPR/AED certification within 60 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide exercise instruction, motivation, and guidance to Rec Center patrons on the fitness floor.
• Conduct and evaluate client fitness assessments.
• Plan, lead, and adapt client-specific training sessions and small group programs.
• Monitor and adjust training programs as client needs evolve, maintaining accurate records of sessions and progress.
• Maintain familiarity with and promote safe practices in fitness equipment use, sanitation, and facility protocols.
• Serve as a first responder in case of emergencies at the facility.
• Participate in personal training meetings and team staff meetings.
• Represent the Rec Center in a professional, courteous manner and support department programs as assigned.
• Assist with presentations, team projects, and support additional related opportunities within scope.
