About The Position

The Personal Trainer 1 is responsible for helping members and clients achieve their health, fitness, and wellness goals through safe, effective, and personalized exercise programming. Personal Trainer 1s provide instruction, motivation, and support while ensuring members exercise safely and effectively. Personal Trainer 1s work closely with members to design individualized exercise programs based on client goals, fitness level, and health considerations. They provide coaching, instruction, and progress tracking while maintaining a professional and service-oriented training environment. This role focuses on developing foundational coaching skills, building a client base, and delivering excellent member service while completing required training and development programs within the department. Requirements

  • Nationally recognized personal training certification (NASM, ACE, NSCA, ACSM, or equivalent)
  • Knowledge of exercise science, program design, and safe training practices
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a member-first service orientation
  • Ability to motivate and educate clients of varying fitness levels and backgrounds
  • Organizational skills to manage client records, scheduling, and session documentation
  • Nationally recognized personal training certification required (NASM, ACE, NSCA, ACSM, or equivalent)
  • Up to one year of related experience; new graduates with strong foundational knowledge considered
  • Completion of The Plex Personal Training Department Onboarding Program
  • Completion of The Plex Entry Personal Training Module on Club Connect within the first six months of employment
  • CPR/AED certification preferred at hire; may be required within a defined timeframe per company policy

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate clients’ physical needs, goals, and fitness levels; develop individualized exercise programs based on client goals, starting fitness level, and medical considerations
  • Instruct clients on proper exercise technique and safe equipment usage; monitor clients during workouts to ensure safety, proper form, and appropriate exercise intensity
  • Track client progress and make program adjustments as needed; maintain accurate client records including session details, program progress, and payment receipts
  • Provide motivation, encouragement, and accountability to clients; schedule and confirm training appointments and arrive prepared and on time for all sessions
  • Maintain an active client base through professional communication and consistent service; promote personal training services and other club programs through positive member engagement
  • Provide genuine hospitality on the fitness floor through coverage, supervision, accessibility, and visibility
  • Ensure all training sessions are paid before services are provided
  • Report equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to management immediately; maintain a clean and safe training environment
  • Stay informed on current trends in exercise science and fitness training; perform CPR and administer first aid when necessary
  • Participate in department initiatives and marketing events such as health fairs, assessments, and promotional events when requested
  • Complete other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Fitness Manager or department leadership
