About The Position
Join the County of Elgin as a Temporary Part-Time Weekend Personal Support Worker position at Terrace Lodge! Terrace Lodge is a 100-bed long-term care home nestled in the Township of Malahide, providing high-quality, compassionate care in a warm and welcoming environment. The home features private and basic accommodations, 24-hour nursing support, and outdoor and indoor spaces that foster connection, comfort, and community. As a certified Personal Support Worker, you will play a vital role in our residents’ daily lives, joining a dedicated care team that works collaboratively to support dignity, safety, and overall well-being through established job routines.
Requirements
- Completion of a Personal Support Worker certificate program from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Must be willing to further training/education of the Personal Support Worker field through in-services, etc.
- Familiarity with: Health & Safety Procedures, Resident Bill of Rights, Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2001, Point Click Care
- Demonstrates a commitment to the delivery of safe, efficient care to the personal needs of residents.
- Successful completion of a police record check with vulnerable sector clearance.
- Satisfactory Tuberculosis (TB) screening documentation.
Responsibilities
- Providing personal care such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and transfers
- Assisting with meals and nutrition support
- Tidying resident rooms and common areas
- Performing minor treatments and reporting health observations
- Responding to call bells with attentiveness and empathy
- Participating in care planning through daily reports and documentation
- Supporting inclusive, respectful, and equitable care delivery
- Additional duties as assigned
