About The Position

PCAL is part of the First Atlantic Healthcare family, a Maine-based, family-owned group of nursing and assisted living facilities. We are dedicated to serving seniors and making a difference in their lives. Portland Center Assisted Living (PCAL) upholds First Atlantic's reputation for excellence in Long Term Care. As a Personal Support Specialist (PSS), you will provide hands-on assistance with daily living for older adults with functional limitations and people with disabilities. This includes services related to physical requirements for Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs), following an authorized plan of care. The PSS is responsible for providing excellent, resident-centered personal care, including assistance with showering/bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility. Additionally, PSSs assist with meal service, laundry, housekeeping, and other assigned tasks. We are looking for compassionate, patient, high-energy caregivers with a strong desire to positively impact our residents' lives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Personal Support Specialist Certification OR willingness to be trained
  • Experience with or desire to spend your work day caring for people, especially those who are older and/or chronically ill.
  • Focus on a high-level of customer service.
  • Ability to work with independence, flexibility, good judgment, verbal communication, creating a safe environment, positive customer relationships.
  • All job offers are contingent upon receiving excellent references and passing the Maine State Background Check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on assistance with daily living for older adults with functional limitations and people with disabilities.
  • Provide services related to a member’s physical requirements for assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs).
  • Provide services according to an authorized plan of care.
  • Provide excellent, resident-centered, personal care.
  • Assist with showering/bathing, dressing, toileting and mobility.
  • Assist with meal service, laundry, housekeeping and other tasks as assigned.
  • Help create a caring environment as part of a clinical team, focusing on providing personal support to Residents in an Assisted Living environment.
  • Get to know your Residents.
