About The Position

TORKLAW is an award-winning plaintiff personal injury law firm seeking an experienced Plaintiff Personal Injury Attorney for a full-time, in-office position in Chicago, IL. This role focuses on pre-litigation and involves taking ownership of personal injury cases from intake through settlement. Attorneys are expected to be trusted advocates, strategists, negotiators, and leaders who have a direct impact on clients' lives. The firm emphasizes growth, accountability, compassion, and a relentless commitment to clients. This is a hands-on, high-accountability role where attorneys will manage their caseloads, conduct investigations, analyze documentation, develop case strategy, draft legal documents, negotiate with opposing parties, and evaluate settlement offers. Exceptional client service and collaboration with legal assistants, case managers, medical professionals, lien negotiators, and other attorneys are key components of this position. The firm is looking for individuals who take initiative, identify and address case impediments, and actively pursue opportunities to strengthen cases and support clients.

Requirements

  • Active attorney in good standing.
  • 5+ years of plaintiff personal injury experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Illinois personal injury law and procedures.
  • Experience managing a significant personal injury caseload.
  • Strong negotiator who knows how to evaluate risk, leverage, and case value.
  • Communicate confidently and empathetically with clients.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to take ownership of cases and follow through.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
  • Comfortable making strategic decisions and advocating for clients.
  • Care about both the outcome of the case and the experience of the person behind it.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct strategic investigations into liability, damages, and case value.
  • Analyze medical records, evidence, and other case-related documentation.
  • Develop case strategy and identify opportunities to maximize case value.
  • Draft and review demand packages and other legal documents.
  • Negotiate with insurance carriers and opposing counsel.
  • Evaluate settlement offers and make strategic recommendations.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the legal and factual issues affecting each case.
  • Help clients understand the legal process, set expectations, answer questions, and ensure they feel informed and supported.
  • Collaborate closely with legal assistants, case managers, medical professionals, lien negotiators, and attorneys to move cases forward.
  • Take ownership of caseloads, identify issues holding cases back, pursue opportunities to strengthen cases, and step in to help clients.
  • Manage multiple priorities, make decisions, communicate with clients, and push cases forward independently.
