This position provides personal financial services to military service members and their families at assigned military installations, such as Fort Benning, GA. The role encompasses a full range of personal financial counseling services, including one-on-one counseling, consultations with commanders or other providers, conducting briefings and presentations, and providing referral resources. The counselor will collaborate closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to ensure the program's scope and needs are met. Key duties involve assisting service members in establishing spending plans for extended absences, developing and distributing informational financial materials, and coordinating a variety of Personal Financial Management classes and workshops covering topics across the military lifecycle, including arrival at first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, and personal and career events as outlined in DoDI 1322.34. The counselor is also expected to respond to requests for age-appropriate classes or seminars and possess the skills to effectively utilize virtual counseling and other electronic communication modes like web-based, secure online chat, or video-based communications, with virtual support authorized by the OSD FINRED Program office. The role includes managing duty to warn situations according to Department of Defense (DoD) protocol, communicating with leadership, participating in regular individual and group supervision, and engaging in in-services, training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities.
