This position provides personal financial services to military service members and their families at assigned military installations. Services include education and counseling on financial matters, such as one-on-one counseling, consultations with commanders or staff, conducting briefings and presentations, and providing referral resources. The counselor works closely with installation and military branch Points of Contact (POC) to ensure the program meets the installation's needs. Key duties involve assisting service members with spending plans for extended absences, developing and distributing financial informational materials, and coordinating and providing Personal Financial Management classes/workshops covering topics across the military lifecycle (e.g., first duty station, pre- and post-deployment, personal and career events). The role requires the ability to utilize virtual counseling and other electronic communication methods like web-based, secure online chat, or video-based communications. Counselors must manage duty to warn situations according to Department of Defense (DoD) protocol, communicate with leadership, participate in regular individual and group supervision, and engage in in-services/training and quality improvement activities.
