About The Position

Bishop McNamara High School is seeking a Personal Finance Teacher to join the Math Department for the 2026-27 school year. This private, Catholic co-educational high school, in the Holy Cross tradition, offers a challenging college preparatory curriculum. The personal finance teacher will be responsible for teaching essential business and financial skills, including money management, budgeting, saving, investing, credit, and financial responsibility, to prepare students for real-world economic challenges. This is a part-time position, supported by a collaborative team of experienced teachers and mentors. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education, family or consumer sciences, business or related fields.
  • Commitment to development of the whole student, including well-being and character, in alignment with the Holy Cross tradition of education.

Responsibilities

  • Developing lesson plans in the relevant subject area and grade, and ensuring all lessons align with curriculum objectives.
  • Drawing up classroom procedures and safety regulations and ensuring all students understand them.
  • Using a range of teaching materials and methods to advance student learning.
  • Providing additional support and interventions for students as needed, based on their readiness and learning profile.
  • Preparing students for tests, exams, presentations, experiments, and other assessments.
  • Grading assessments and providing feedback and reports to students and parents.
  • Attending staff and parent meetings to provide helpful recommendations or voice concerns.
  • Establishing rapport and professional relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Supervising students in class, during events, and on field trips.
  • Monitoring students’ overall wellbeing and liaising with school counselors and other staff members when there are concerns or issues.
  • Attending ongoing learning initiatives like workshops, lectures, conferences, and other events where you are able to expand education networks.
