About The Position

Under the supervision of the Manager, Financial Education, responsible for the design, development, implementation, delivery, and maintenance of the Credit Union’s youth financial literacy education programs, as well as supporting our financial education school, business and community partnerships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field. Equivalent and proven demonstrable experience in the above fields can be considered in lieu of the education requirement.
  • Teaching Certification preferred
  • Minimum three years’ experience, in developing, designing, delivering and evaluating education presentations in a variety of formats.
  • Must be bilingual, fluent in both Spanish and English.
  • Knowledge of education administration and curriculum development.
  • Familiarity with behavior management techniques and strategies.
  • Dedicated and passionate individual, committed to providing quality personal finance education to youth and adults.
  • Must possess knowledge and demonstrate understanding and skill in the research, design, development and evaluation of financial education and training programs.
  • Able to conduct education/training needs analysis/surveys and evaluate results of said surveys.
  • Understand the socio-economic aspects of poverty that contribute to financial illiteracy.
  • Must be energetic, analytical, creative, innovative, resourceful, well-organized, self- starter with the ability to work independently and as part of an effective team.
  • Leadership skills, excellent communication and presentation skills are required (oral, visual and written).
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Moderate PC experience with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and skilled in the use of audio/visual recording and presentation equipment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the design, development, implementation and delivery of the Credit Union’s youth financial literacy education programs.
  • Actively seek and develop partnerships within APGFCU’s field of membership school systems, to support their financial education initiatives and deliver APGFCU’s financial literacy education programs to students, families and staff within their schools.
  • Promote and support APGFCU’s youth branch program within the confines of partnership schools and in collaboration with external/internal APGFCU partners.
  • Maintain Financial Education Department financial literacy resources, curriculum and presentation materials and equipment.
  • Collaborate and cooperate with Financial Education Team colleagues in responding to partner and community requests for financial literacy education sessions, ensuring all appropriate session materials are prepared, pre and post session communication, documentation, tracking, and results reporting is completed, department inventory is monitored and maintained and all incoming correspondence is handled in an efficient, effective and timely manner.
  • Participate in, initiate and lead new projects for the Financial Education Department, identifying project objectives, ensuring team understanding of roles and responsibilities, monitor progress of these projects and recommend appropriate action to ensure project objectives and outcomes are realized.
  • Recommend, develop, create and post financial literacy information for the Financial Education department page of the APGFCU Employee Intranet.
  • Recommend material for further development on the APGFCU website as it pertains to financial education and wealth building.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of credit union financial literacy promotions.
  • Communicate and promote campaigns and promotions directly designed to benefit APGFCU Financial Education Department partners.
  • Maintain and nurture diverse partnerships (both internal and external to APGFCU) in which APGFCU promotes and provides financial literacy education throughout the APGFCU community service area.
  • Represent APGFCU on community boards and advisory groups to further advance financial literacy education and wealth-building initiatives.
  • Collaborate with appropriate community business and organization leaders to promote financial health and well-being amongst their organizations and constituents.
  • Attract, encourage and as is applicable, enroll new credit union memberships through financial literacy education events.
  • Remain current and abreast of trends in the finance, education and consumer industries.
  • Continuous self-development in the education, finance and presentation areas to strengthen program content and relevance, presentation effectiveness, develop new ideas and effectively communicate with and relate to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Continuous self-development in pedagogy principles.
  • Remain current and abreast of Credit Union products and services, their features and benefits.
  • Remain current and abreast of financial regulations that affect financial consumers and the credit union industry.
  • Responsible for completion of applicable training and compliance on federal regulations and APGFCU policies and procedures as related to the duties of this position (Bank Secrecy Act, Information Security as examples, if applicable).
