About The Position

Hinds' Feet Farm, Inc. is hiring a full-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide 1:1 support for brain injury survivors. This DSP will assist with community-based support that may include self-care tasks. The goal of this position will be to provide 1:1 supervision and support that will foster his independence. At Hinds' Feet Farm, we provide holistic alternatives to the traditional brain injury treatment model, supporting individual well-being and empowering members to thrive post-injury. Requirements

  • Be 21+ years old.
  • Valid driver's license, insured personal vehicle, clean driving record, and 5+ years of driving experience.
  • Acceptable level of automobile liability insurance.
  • High school degree or equivalent.
  • Good standing with the NC Health Care Personnel Registry.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (can be provided).
  • Communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge of basic physical/psychological needs and health/safety procedures.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training regarding brain injuries and best practices.
  • Ability to follow all NC DHHS regulations, confidentiality rules, and organizational policies.
  • Ability to complete assigned training within 30 days.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Ability to stay positive and professional throughout the workday.
  • Ability to use computers and office equipment.

  • Certified Brain Injury Specialist
  • Experience working with individuals with TBI
  • Experience with developmental disabilities and/or mental health

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support for brain injury survivors.
  • Assist with community-based support, including self-care tasks.
  • Provide 1:1 supervision and support to foster independence.
  • Provide transportation and participation in the Day Program.
  • Offer emotional support, socialization, and community engagement.
  • Facilitate recreational, professional, and educational activities.
  • Engage in team collaboration and ongoing communication with supervisors, case managers, family members, etc.
  • Provide individual supervision, crisis intervention, and detailed documentation.
  • Collaborate with the treatment team to achieve the best outcomes for the client, adjusting processes and meeting goals as needed.
