About The Position

Senior Helpers of Greater Grand Rapids is seeking compassionate and passionate individuals to join their team as Personal Caregivers. In this role, you will be the face of the organization, providing professional care services to help clients maintain their independence and assist them with activities of daily living and household support. This is an hourly, non-exempt position with a starting rate of $15/hour, with potential for shift differentials. The company is looking for individuals who value dignity, are passionate about helping others, and want to help seniors age in place and live their best lives.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Authorized to work in the United States
  • Complete any required health screenings
  • Valid Driver’s License, insurance, and reliable transportation.
  • Must have flexibility with schedule and be able to work various shifts and days
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check and drug screening prior to employment with Senior Helpers.
  • Proof of passing first aid/CPR training within 3 months of employment

Nice To Haves

  • More than 1 year of Home Care industry or Caregiving work experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate companionship and support through engaging conversations and meaningful relationship-building.
  • Participate in clients’ favorite hobbies and activities, such as playing games or working on puzzles.
  • Assist with light housekeeping, laundry, and linen changes to maintain a safe and comfortable home environment.
  • Prepare meals and support proper nutrition and hydration.
  • Provide dignified personal care by assisting with ADLs, including bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, and medication reminders.
  • Provide safe transportation, using either your own vehicle or the client’s, as appropriate.
  • Accompany clients to appointments, errands, and social or recreational outings.
  • Observe, document, and promptly report any changes in a client’s physical health, mental status, or behavior to supervisors.
  • Accurately document all visits, care activities, and shift details in the organization’s homecare software, in compliance with agency policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor Alzheimer’s & Dementia client.
  • For any client care that requires sleep-over or live-in situations, prepare sleeping area at night and assist client as needed during the course of the night.
