About The Position

The Personal Care Teacher Assistant (PCTA) assists the teacher in achieving educational objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the standards of instruction. This role is for the beginning of the 26-27 school year.

Requirements

  • One year of college required.
  • Physical condition so as to be able to manage behavior/physically challenged students.
  • Must have the ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Basic understanding of child growth and development.
  • Current restraint program certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of college preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate ethical behavior and maintain confidentiality of student information.
  • Work with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher.
  • Guide independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up and assigned by the teacher.
  • Implement student behavior plans.
  • Be aware of identified student health concerns, monitor/assist as appropriate in collaboration with teacher and nurse.
  • Provide toileting/personal care/hygiene, when necessary.
  • Be aware of student-assistance protocol.
  • Assist with collecting, maintaining, and organizing data and portfolios, and/or work samples of student(s).
  • Assist student(s) with organization of desk, homework, class work and materials.
  • When applicable, consult daily with teachers and other service providers.
  • Facilitate student(s) social interaction.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the teacher or Principal.
