About The Position

Starkloff Disability Institute (SDI) is seeking a dependable, professional, and service-oriented Personal Care Attendant (PCA) to provide direct support to staff members and professionals with significant physical disabilities. This role is focused on helping employees fully participate in their work, meetings, community engagement, and professional responsibilities. This is not a general office assistant role or a traditional caregiving position. The primary responsibility is to provide personal assistance and related support that enables SDI professionals with disabilities to do their jobs effectively, safely, and with greater independence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Dependable, punctual, and able to commit to a regular Monday–Friday schedule.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Respectful and professional approach to supporting individuals with disabilities in a workplace setting.
  • Ability to follow directions, exercise good judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work independently while remaining attentive to the employee's needs.
  • Ability to pass a background screening.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a caregiver, PCA, Direct Support Professional (DSP), CNA, or in a related role.
  • Experience supporting individuals with physical disabilities.
  • Experience providing professional, workplace, transportation, or community-based support.
  • CPR and First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care and mobility assistance as needed during the workday.
  • Assist professionals with disabilities in preparing for, attending, and participating in work-related meetings, programs, appointments, and events.
  • Provide driving or transportation support as needed for work-related activities.
  • Support access to community engagement, donor meetings, corporate sponsor meetings, hosted events, or other professional commitments.
  • Encourage independence while providing the appropriate level of assistance based on the employee's needs.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, professional, and inclusive environment.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with SDI staff and other stakeholders.
  • Follow organizational policies, procedures, and individualized support expectations.
  • Complete required documentation and report concerns as appropriate.
  • Serve as a positive and professional representative of Starkloff Disability Institute.
