Requirements

  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
  • Must have a PCA certificate from a Home Health Aide training program consistent with State requirements.
  • Must have the maturity necessary for establishing and maintaining a good work relationship with the client, the client's family, and agency personnel.
  • Have a sincere interest in and a sympathetic attitude towards caring for the sick and disabled.
  • Get along well with others.
  • Be dependable and trustworthy.
  • Maintain compliance with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Enjoy working with others.
  • Be a good listener.
  • Have a feeling of empathy for the sick, disabled and elderly.
  • Be sensitive to the feelings of others.
  • Be neatly dressed and have good personal hygiene habits.
  • Maintain good health habits with regular physical and dental exams.
  • Wear an Always Compassionate identification badge while working.
  • Able to lift, turn and transfer clients.
  • Able to carry bundles up stairs weighing up to 10 pounds.
  • Must be able to stoop and bend.
  • Visual / hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written and verbal communication.
  • Able to verbalize so that the average person can understand.
  • Provide direct care according to the established client plan of care.
  • Carry out a wide variety of tasks under the direction of the nursing supervisor.

Nice To Haves

  • Evidence of ongoing in-service of six (6) hours of education to maintain the certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a healthy, safe environment.
  • Providing simple nutritional and environmental support.
  • Assisting with personal hygiene, toileting, dressing, walking, and feeding the client.
  • Positioning the client when instructed to do so.
  • Reminding the client to take medications that are pre-prepared by the family.
  • Doing errands when authorized to do so.
  • Documentation on the Aide Charting Sheet daily.
  • Reporting any important information or changes in the client's condition to the agency and/or the nursing supervisor when necessary.
  • The use of medical supplies and equipment when appropriate.
  • Emotional support and the development of a trusting relationship between the aide and the client.
  • Encouraging client independence.

Benefits

  • Hourly rate: $18.10 - $21.00 PER HR
