About The Position

Avid Health at Home North Carolina LLC is hiring for an overnight/weekend Personal Care Aide (PCA) position. The PCA is a paraprofessional member of the client care team who works under the supervision of the Client Care Coordinator and clinical supervision of a registered nurse or Clinical Manager. The role involves providing personal care services and limited household tasks as part of the client's physician-ordered plan of care.

Requirements

  • Maturity to deal effectively with the demands of the job.

Responsibilities

  • Implements and provides day-to-day Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) support to clients within their home as ordered by the physician’s plan of treatment and client’s plan of care.
  • Assists or performs personal care including baths (tub, shower, bed), mouth care, denture care, skin care, foot care (no toenail cutting), grooming (shampoo, comb hair, shave, file nails), and dressing/undressing activities.
  • Assists with elimination (toilet, commode, urinal, bedpan) and transfers.
  • Assists with ambulation with or without mechanical aids.
  • Assists the client with therapy exercises under the direction of a Registered Therapist.
  • Assists with household tasks directly related to the client’s health and in accordance with the care plan, including maintaining a clean, safe, and healthy environment.
  • Plans and prepares meals according to specific dietary requirements of the client, and if necessary, feeding the client.
  • Performs light housekeeping of the client’s immediate environment.
  • Performs laundry of clients bedding and clothing.
  • Provides assistance in completing activities such as shopping/grocery, errands, and appointments outside of the home.
  • Provides companionship and stimulation for the client including reading, walks, etc., and accompanies the client to doctors or other appointments.
  • Utilizes equipment in an appropriate and safe manner.
  • Reminds client for self-administration of medication (does not administer medications).
  • Accurately documents shift details and services within established time parameters.
  • Ensures the safety of clients and self, following Universal Precautions and demonstrating safe hand washing techniques.
  • Observes the client’s general physical, emotional, and mental status, and reports all changes immediately to the agency coordinator, supervisor, and client’s designated representative.
  • Maintains and improves skills through attendance with staff development programs and in-service education requirements.
  • Maintains confidentiality in all professional areas and considers the needs of clients and their families, other employees, physicians, visitors, and all members of the community in an informative, courteous, and compassionate manner.
  • Ensures all HIPAA regulations are adhered to.
  • Follows all agency policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
