About The Position

The Personal Banker is responsible for identifying customers' financial service needs through profiling and referring them to appropriate Line of Business partners. This role involves opening loan and deposit accounts and is accountable for achieving individual goals related to loan and deposit production, as well as other sales targets set by Branch management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus specialized training or a two-year degree.
  • Two to five years of general experience.
  • Ability to become CARE certified within 6 months of hire.
  • Proof of registration with the registry and verification of a unique identifier as established under the guidelines of the S.A.F.E. Act is required upon hire and/or must be obtained prior to performing the duties of a Mortgage Loan Originator, as defined by the Act. This registration must be maintained annually.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently, as well as motivated to work as a team player.

Responsibilities

  • Complete Sales Platform training as assigned by Consumer Bank Training.
  • Demonstrate product knowledge, sales aptitude, and service expectations successfully.
  • Execute expectations outlined in the Branch Playbook.
  • Become CARE certified within 6 months of hire.
  • Profile customers to determine and recommend appropriate S&T loan and deposit products.
  • Utilize all provided sales tools (e.g., LoanFit, sales binder) to enhance customer experience and sales conversations.
  • Complete the S&T Sales process and customer-focused conversations with each customer, documenting notes in the appropriate system for future interactions.
  • Input loan applications using appropriate LOS software and coordinate loan document preparation.
  • Open new deposit accounts and produce signature cards, certificates of deposit, and other deposit documents.
  • Suggest additional bank services (e.g., other loan accounts, deposit services, insurance products) using CARE skills, product knowledge, and policy/procedure knowledge.
  • Make referrals to Mortgage, Wealth Management, Financial Services, Business Banking, Elavon, Elan, Private Banking, Evergreen, Deluxe, etc.
  • Contribute to Branch goals and sales and service standards as outlined in the branch playbook and detailed by Branch Management.
  • Execute professional sales and service behaviors in alignment with Bank’s Our Shared Future purpose, five values, and core drivers.
  • Follow up on loans and deposit accounts opened and correct deficiencies or document exceptions in a timely fashion.
  • Utilize the Sales & Service guide to complete proposed campaign calls on new and existing customers to generate new business as outlined in the Branch Playbook.
  • Assist, as needed, branch management in coaching staff regarding the S&T Sales process and expectations.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with bank employees in other departments and business lines.
  • Complete NLMS requirements as part of the S.A.F.E. Act certification, including registration with the registry and verification of a unique identifier upon hire or prior to performing Mortgage Loan Originator duties, and maintain this registration annually.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, and as necessary to support the successful operation of the branch.
