About The Position

Personal Bankers are responsible for fostering a positive work environment, providing excellent customer service, identifying sales opportunities, and performing account transactions. They play a key role in building customer relationships and executing sales initiatives. This role involves meeting with customers to discuss their banking needs, initiating outbound calls for customer onboarding and prospecting, and cross-selling products and services. Personal Bankers also assist with outside sales activities and community engagement. Operationally, they must comply with all bank policies, procedures, and security measures, and may act as a teller or assist in supervision to meet sales and operational objectives.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Must be willing to register and maintain registry with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS), to comply with the S.A.F.E. Act Requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook 365.
  • Proficient computer skills are required and the ability to learn various Banking Software programs.
  • Ability to generate new financial relationships through outbound calling, internal business development and building a loyal customer base.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively interact and build positive customer relationships.
  • Must be able to clearly express concepts, ideas, and product information verbally and in writing.
  • Must have strong product knowledge for the level of selling and cross selling performance expected with position.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and to be flexible.
  • Must be available to work all hours of operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Banking, cash handling, sales, and customer service experience preferred.
  • Supervisory or leadership skills desired.
  • Strong consumer lending skills are preferred with a solid understanding of consumer lending products.
  • Sound mathematical and analytical skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Execute consumer-based and business relationship building efforts.
  • Focus primarily on daily sales initiatives and assume a proactive role in customer interaction and service.
  • Meet with customers to discuss their specific banking needs in person and via phone.
  • Initiate outbound telephone calls focused on customer onboarding, prospecting new Retail customers, and cross-selling.
  • Assist the Banking Center Manager in targeted outside sales activities.
  • Participate in community service opportunities.
  • Comply with all established Bank policies, procedures, and security measures.
  • Operate as a teller, assist in supervising, and/or provide necessary additional support of the banking center's sales and operational objectives.
  • Personally model the standards of the Bank's Mission, Vision, and Pledge.
  • Effectively assess the financial needs of Banking Center clients and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Consistently meet and exceed defined sales goals for loans, deposits, partner referrals, and profitability.
  • Promote the sales culture within the banking center by demonstrating strong ability to sell and cross-sell products and services.
  • Communicate and partner effectively with branch staff and peers to promote a team environment.
  • Monitor performance against banking center goals by adjusting individual goals and initiating sales promotions.
  • Execute outbound calling activities inside the banking center utilizing customer lists.
  • Cross-sell consistently and make appropriate business line referrals.
  • Set priorities and follow through on the implementation of defined sales and service activities.
  • Promote company products and services in the community.
  • Support the proper functioning of all day-to-day operations including customer service, open and close procedures, vault duties, cash control, inventory supply, audit, and compliance requirements.
  • Actively participate in regular sales and staff meetings.
  • Provide service to customers and prospective customers on various banking matters, including explaining products and resolving problems.
  • Build successful working relationships with internal business partners.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment and decision-making by following established guidelines and procedures.
  • Maintain prescribed security controls to protect self and the banking center.
  • Maintain a position of trust and responsibility by keeping all sensitive information and customer business confidential.
  • Contribute in a team environment to service customer needs by answering incoming telephone calls and performing additional duties.
  • Acquire and maintain proficiency in the bank's policies and procedures, and adhere to all applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Complete all assigned compliance training in a timely manner.

  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
