About The Position

Under general supervision and in compliance with established policies and procedures, this role is responsible for efficient, effective customer service including new account opening, loan applications, responding to inquiries, performing account maintenance, and assisting as requested by management. The Personal Banker provides personalized customer service by learning about customer needs and financial goals. This role represents the Bank at community activities when appropriate to maintain the bank's responsible citizen stature while simultaneously developing new business. The position requires strong leadership skills, a desire to grow within the organization, and flexibility in time commitment, potentially including working extra hours to support customer service specialists and bank operations.

Requirements

  • Strong leadership skills and a drive for success, with proven prior leadership and enthusiasm for advancement.
  • Potential for further development and leadership opportunities must be an objective.
  • Minimum of an Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, OR prior success and achievement equal to 5 years of service in the business world in a leadership position.
  • Computer Skills in specific Bank software (Loan Doc/Fiserv System/Nautilus Scanning) and in Word, Outlook, and Excel programs.
  • Knowledge of the Consumer Loan Policy as approved annually by the Board of Directors.
  • High degree of confidentiality.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Solid product knowledge.
  • Proactive leadership in learning new products/services and ensuring other staff members’ timely instruction of all products and services.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of IRA/HSA rules and documents.
  • Banking knowledge to ensure compliance with Bank Secrecy Act regulations and all other regulatory, security, and Bank policies and procedures.
  • Strict adherence to LSSB check cashing policies and procedures.
  • Maintaining a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters positive working relationships with customers, coworkers, and managers.
  • Professional interaction with other employees, board members, customers, and external vendors.
  • Acting in accordance with the Lake Shore Bank Code of Ethics Policy.

Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining customer and business relations through daily contact with customers entering the branch and proactive contact with existing customers.
  • Using a consultative sales approach to develop relationships that help customers reach their financial goals.
  • Representing the Bank at community activities when requested.
  • Working as part of the branch team to develop plans for meeting branch goals for loan, deposit, and services growth.
  • Assisting other employees when necessary in achieving branch goals.
  • Answering questions and solving problems for customers concerning all products and services provided by the Bank, ensuring follow-up contact within 24 hours.
  • Proactively learning about all bank products and services by keeping current with the Product Manual and other Bank resources.
  • Completing Onboarding activities for new Lake Shore Bank customers as assigned by management.
  • Making outbound phone calls to existing and potentially new customers to inform them of Lake Shore products and promotions, with the goal of scheduling appointments.
  • Participating in mandatory annual compliance training, staff development, and educational training within the branch.
  • Ensuring all Human Resource related documentation is completed and forwarded to the Human Resource Office in a timely manner.
  • Opening the branch 5 minutes early and closing the branch 5 minutes late, including drive-thru facilities, to ensure maximum customer accessibility.
  • Ensuring all daily activities are completed in accordance with internal controls established by Bank policy.
  • Potentially working as a customer service specialist when requested by management.
  • Interviewing consumer loan applicants, gathering required information for credit applications, and explaining loan options, rates, terms, and collateral requirements.
  • Qualifying loans and providing documentation for underwriting by running credit reports, analyzing information, and verifying details with creditors, applicants, and employers.
  • Requesting and following up on additional information required for loan applications.
  • Cross-selling Lake Shore Bank products to customers via lobby, telephone inquiries, and potential customers outside of work hours.
  • Assisting in the development of mortgage customers, including frequent visits to local realtors to promote mortgage products.
  • Potentially traveling to other branch locations to provide staffing efficiency.
  • Maintaining the inside and outside appearance of the branch to high standards of cleanliness.
  • Maintaining a professional image at all times while representing the Bank, including proper personal hygiene and appropriate business attire.
  • Representing the Bank in a positive manner at all times by providing exceptional customer service.
  • Referring appropriate candidates for employment opportunities with Lake Shore Bank.
  • Performing any other duties that may be assigned.
