About The Position

Manage the consumer lending functions for retail locations and assist with the operational activities of the branch. Serve the customers within our target market in an extraordinary manner so that our brand name and reputation continue to flourish. Ensure that operations and transactions are handled efficiently and in compliance with regulatory and bank policies and procedures. Manage the consumer loan process and cross-sell bank products and services to clients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of retail banking experience
  • Experience with consumer lending, including knowledge of regulations and guidelines
  • Strong knowledge and effective implementation of branch operations procedures
  • Ability to open/maintain/close accounts, handle consumer loans, and retail banking relationships
  • Ability to operate office equipment, telephones, and computers
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English, in person, in writing, and on the computer
  • Ability to hear, speak, and understand verbal communication
  • Ability to read, write, count, and perform basic math functions
  • Ability to move head, shoulders, neck, and arms freely (e.g. operation of office equipment)
  • Ability to use manual dexterity and fine manipulation for operating a keyboard, using equipment, filing, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds, grasp, reach, and pull
  • Ability to think, remember, learn new information, and apply cognitive data to job functions

Responsibilities

  • Interview consumer loan applicants, collect, and review financial and related data to determine the general credit worthiness of the prospect and the specific merits of the loan request.
  • Obtain financial data and cash flow for consumer loan requests submitted by clients, including available collateral and property evaluations.
  • Submit information and share data with credit and loan operations.
  • Ensure proactive follow-up and communication with all involved parties.
  • Approve loans within specified limits and refer loan applications outside those limits to management for approval; prepare and present information as needed for proper consideration and determination.
  • Review loan agreements to ensure that they are complete and accurate according to compliance standards.
  • Assist with signing and finalizing loans as directed.
  • Clarify and explain to clients the terms under which credit will be extended, including the cost, repayment method and schedule, and collateral requirements.
  • Monitor loan repayment activities, assist in computation, communication, and documentation of loan repayment schedules; take necessary action to collect from past due and charge off accounts.
  • Work to correct and clear any loan file exception or deficiencies promptly.
  • Work to manage annual reviews, loan maturity, refinance, and other loan events.
  • Gather documents and communicate proactively with lending/credit team and clients to ensure seamless service.
  • Serve as the primary retail relationship contact for clients and strive to offer extraordinary customer service by assisting with a variety of products and services, depending on each individual client situation.
  • Seek out prospective new clients, both individual consumer and commercial, through leads, cold-calling, previous relationships, events, and other appropriate means.
  • Build strong relationships through positive, helpful assistance, listening, understanding, referrals, and introducing additional services and products.
  • Promote SouthEast Bank loans and services to clients and convert loan-only customers into long-term banking clients, with multiple services per household.
  • Assist clients as necessary with banking business (e.g. ensure that they can order new checks, replace lost debit cards, transfer money, research transaction errors, counsel clients on the use of online banking or bill pay, advise clients on budgeting and balancing their accounts, etc.)
  • Listen to clients and match the best Bank products to their needs, including personal and business deposit accounts, treasury management services, commercial and consumer loans and lines of credit, residential mortgage loans, small to medium size business term loans and lines of credit, consumer and business credit cards, merchant services and occasionally larger real estate loans, as well as other products that are appropriate.
  • Refer commercial clients and other lines of business to the appropriate Relationship Manager or other Bank contact.
  • Promote friendly relations with retail customers, local businesses, trade organizations and service clubs, concentrating efforts on those within marketing areas.
  • Ensure that your location provides excellent service to customers (e.g. access to lock boxes, funds transfers, term deposits, retirement savings plan contributions, automated teller transactions, night deposits, mail payments, open new accounts, etc.), cross-sell and provide information on Bank products and services.
  • Assist other lenders with collection of information and loan processing as directed.
  • Handle customer inquiries and complaints, and take appropriate action to resolve them timely.
  • Provide assistance and support to staff in dealing with customer problems, assisting in the resolution of particularly sensitive or complex problems.
  • Assist with operational, transactional, balancing, and account maintenance procedures, including dual control, vault, cash, ATM, balancing, security, safety deposits, deposit operations, opening and closing procedures, customer concerns, and account opening and maintenance, etc.
  • Learn and manage the opening of all types of accounts in compliance with SouthEast Bank’s policies and procedures.
  • Be the “go-to” person at your branch for questions and problems with accounts and train staff in all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Review and approve unusual transactions, receiving signature or endorsement verification, according to the Bank’s policies and procedures.
  • Review all accounts in delinquent or overdraft status.
  • Take appropriate action to collect and bring accounts to current position.
  • Assist with collection and resolution on cash items and checks as needed.
  • Review the Bank’s information security guidelines regularly and avoid activity that could expose the Bank to malware, scams, and fraud.
  • Follow all guidelines for securing your accounts, access, systems, and information.
  • Be proactive in identifying threats to information security and relay concerns to the information security team.
  • Diligently protect confidential information and assist the Bank in ensuring that all confidential and sensitive information is handled appropriately.
  • Maintain an active awareness and understanding of policies, procedures, designated authorities, regulations, and laws, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act, Red Flags, Consumer Privacy, Fair Lending, other applicable lending laws, etc.
  • Follow these at all times.
  • Communicate openly with supervisors and other management about policies, procedures, work conduct, and job functions.
  • Ask questions to clarify any uncertainty when issues arise.
  • Address with your supervisor questions about suspected violations of policy and procedure, and other laws and guidelines, as outlined in the Code of Conduct, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, Anti-Money Laundering Act, lending laws, etc.
  • Participate in training sessions and policy updates as necessary.
  • Assist with coordination of scheduling as appropriate.
  • Maintain focus and professionalism at work; reserve personal matters for personal time.
  • Be teachable, flexible, manageable, approachable, and helpful.
  • Work scheduled and other needed hours at the designated location(s).
  • Assist Management with scheduling and other issues as directed.
  • Accept additional work as needed and assist other managers or Team Members as needed.
  • All Team Members should provide consistently positive, effective, helpful service to all customers, both internal and external.
  • Management or Bank policy may revise, delete, or add responsibility as necessary.
