About The Position

The Person In Charge (PIC) is the primary contact for customers, providing friendly, courteous, and helpful service. During the absence of store management, the PIC is in charge of the store and has the authority to make necessary decisions to operate the store at maximum profit, efficiency, and superior customer service. The PIC supervises store employees when in charge of the store, typically at night. The role also includes acting as a Cashier-Checker and may require working in various departments within the store.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
  • Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
  • Ability to interact with customers and co-workers.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Knowledge of all positions within the store.
  • Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service as defined by the employer within the scope of the position and company policy.
  • Handle emergencies, customer complaints, employee or customer accidents, and supervise all store personnel when in charge.
  • Maintain a high level of familiarity with company policies and procedures.
  • Supervise the sales floor to monitor service and replenishment of products.
  • Replace stock in displays surrounding the checkout area.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment within the store.
  • Assist other cashiers with computer, register, and scanner problems.
  • Perform basic office functions to assist customers and personnel.
  • Operate an electronically scanning cash register to total customers’ final bill.
  • Receive payment for customer purchases and count back correct change.
  • Bag groceries in paper, canvas, or plastic bags.
  • Lift bags into grocery cart.
  • Offer customer assistance with carry out, and perform that task if a Courtesy Clerk is not available.
  • May be responsible for completing close of day functions in the office.
  • May be responsible for counting out-of-stock product.
  • May count tills when other cashier-checkers leave.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
