About The Position

The Person In Charge (PIC) is a primary contact for customers, providing friendly, courteous, and helpful service. In the absence of store management, the PIC is responsible for the store's operation, making decisions to ensure maximum profit, efficiency, and superior customer service. The PIC supervises store employees, typically during evening shifts, and also functions as a Cashier-Checker. This role may involve working in various store departments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service in accordance with company policy.
  • Handle emergencies, customer complaints, and employee/customer accidents.
  • Supervise all store personnel when in charge.
  • Maintain familiarity with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor the sales floor for service and product replenishment.
  • Replace stock in displays around the checkout area.
  • Assist in maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assist other cashiers with computer, register, and scanner issues.
  • Perform basic office functions for customers and personnel.
  • Operate an electronic scanning cash register to total customer purchases.
  • Receive payments and count back correct change.
  • Bag groceries.
  • Lift bags into grocery carts.
  • Offer and perform carry-out assistance if a Courtesy Clerk is unavailable.
  • May complete close of day functions.
  • May count out-of-stock product.
  • May count tills when other cashiers leave.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
