About The Position

This position serves as a primary contact for customers, providing friendly, courteous, and helpful service. In the absence of store management, the PIC is in charge of the store, making necessary decisions to operate at maximum profit, efficiency, and superior customer service. The role involves supervising store employees, acting as a Cashier-Checker, and potentially working in various departments. Key responsibilities include handling emergencies, customer complaints, accidents, supervising personnel, maintaining familiarity with company policies, monitoring the sales floor, stocking displays, maintaining a clean and safe environment, assisting other cashiers, performing basic office functions, operating the cash register, handling payments, bagging groceries, and assisting customers with carry-out. The role may also include closing duties, counting out-of-stock products, and counting tills.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow company customer service procedures.
  • Demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
  • Ability to interact with customers and co-workers.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Knowledge of all positions within the store.
  • Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service within company policy.
  • Handle emergencies, customer complaints, and employee or customer accidents.
  • Supervise all store personnel when in charge.
  • Maintain high level of familiarity with company policies and procedures.
  • Supervise the sales floor to monitor service and replenishment of products.
  • Replace stock in displays surrounding the checkout area.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Assist other cashiers with computer, register, and scanner problems.
  • Perform basic office functions to assist customers and personnel.
  • Operate electronically scanning cash register to total customers’ final bill.
  • Receive payment for customer purchases and count back correct change.
  • Bag groceries in paper, canvas, or plastic bags.
  • Lift bags into grocery cart.
  • Offer customer assistance with carry out, and perform that task if a Courtesy Clerk is not available.
  • Complete close of day functions in the office.
  • Count out of stock product.
  • Count tills when other cashier-checkers leave.
  • Other duties as assigned.
