About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring that all permits are approved, inspections are scheduled, contractor licenses are current, and all regulatory requirements are met before electrical projects begin. The Permitting & Licensing Specialist will support the Commercial, Residential, and Solar divisions by managing permits, contractor licensing, utility applications, inspection scheduling, and regulatory documentation. The goal is to ensure projects start on solid ground, remain compliant, and provide an outstanding experience for customers and field teams.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in permitting, licensing, construction administration, project administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in the electrical, construction, engineering, or solar industries is highly preferred.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office & Google Workspace.
  • Experience using municipal permitting portals is a plus.
  • Experience coordinating with utility companies is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with permitting or licensing software is a plus.
  • Loves organization and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and submit permit applications for commercial, residential, and solar projects.
  • Communicate with municipalities, counties, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
  • Track permit status and approval timelines.
  • Obtain permit approvals and required documentation.
  • Maintain organized permit files and project records.
  • Notify internal teams when permits have been issued and projects are ready to move forward.
  • Maintain contractor licenses and municipal registrations.
  • Coordinate license renewals before expiration.
  • Submit required licensing documentation.
  • Maintain insurance certificates and supporting compliance documents.
  • Stay current with permitting requirements and municipal regulations.
  • Maintain organized compliance records.
  • Schedule required municipal inspections.
  • Coordinate utility applications and approvals.
  • Submit solar interconnection documentation.
  • Communicate with utility providers regarding required paperwork.
  • Track inspection dates and approval status.
  • Ensure documentation is completed accurately and submitted on time.
  • Organize permit, licensing, and inspection documentation.
  • Update internal tracking systems.
  • Maintain accurate project records.
  • Respond to requests from municipalities, utilities, and internal departments.
  • Assist with process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
