About The Position

WH Bass is seeking an experienced Permit Expeditor to play a key role in helping the company win new projects and expedite their start dates. This role provides permit management support, utility coordination support, and manages municipality requirements for preconstruction and operations teams. The Permit Expeditor will also assist and coordinate with customers and internal teams on a wide variety of projects. The candidate must be capable of handling multiple project tasks simultaneously, be a self-starter, think on their feet, and represent Bass as the interface with customers, developers, architects, engineering firms, cities/municipalities, utility companies, and other project partners. The position reports to the VP of Preconstruction.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years in general construction environment.
  • Ability to perform under pressure, evaluate situations and make timely, accurate decisions.
  • Full understanding and ability to interact with all internal teams to ensure each member of the team has all the information required to perform their specific responsibilities effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Liaison with City of and other governmental officials for permitting issues to get construction projects started.
  • Verify with each city/county any specific license needed for WH Bass to build for that project.
  • Process and execute any needed business license or business tax fees.
  • Request, collect, and complete all documentation required from the city/county needed to obtain approval/registration to build for that project.
  • Prepare, expedite, and deliver all permit applications required by WH Bass to obtain all needed permits for each project.
  • Develop relationships with the city/county to provide with confidence what permits are associated with each project.
  • Ensure all plans and required submittals are processed with the appropriate government body and follow through to obtain approvals as required.
  • Track progress of submittals to receipt of required approvals.
  • Monitor and coordinate the work effort of all project architects, engineers, and consultants to ensure their scope of work is in conformance with the project budget, schedule, and Permit guidelines.
  • Maintain all project information to be used in the future to help get jobs started faster.
  • Build and maintain a network database of customers and customer support involved in permitting, design team contacts, city/county contacts, DOT contacts, private and public utility contacts.
  • Verify correct utility providers and accurate contacts internally with each utility company to verify their knowledge and approvals of the project.
  • Provide necessary documents and drawings that may be needed for the coordination of new installations.
  • Verify needed preconstruction meetings necessary with the city/county and or utility provider.
  • Assist with project team to identify and execute all final requirements necessary to receive the final Certificate of Occupancy for projects.
  • Identify with the JHU (Jurisdiction Having Authority) at the beginning of a project the requirements needed for the Certificate of Occupancy.
  • Identify the as-built requirements and approval process for each project.
  • Perform the necessary steps for acquiring any open permit cost needs and request the necessary check from accounting, ensure proper job number, cost code, and submit cost to customer for reimbursement.
  • Maintain AR reporting associated with reimbursement needs.
  • Communicate with the project team and leadership all specific permitting and or licensing needs of subcontractors for each project.
