About The Position

Synergy3 is seeking a reliable and professional Permit Courier for a full-time/part-time field role in New Jersey. This individual will be responsible for managing the submission, tracking, and retrieval of HVAC permit applications. The role involves direct interaction with municipal township offices across New Jersey to ensure efficient permit processing and prompt resolution of any inquiries from township staff.

Requirements

  • Valid New Jersey driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for dealing with municipal staff.
  • Basic understanding of HVAC permit processes or willingness to learn.
  • Ability to manage time effectively across multiple township stops per day.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills for document handling.
  • Smartphone proficiency for navigation, communication, and daily logging.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor when representing the company at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience as a permit runner, courier, or in a municipal-facing role.
  • Familiarity with NJ township building departments and permitting workflows.
  • Background in construction, HVAC, or the skilled trades industry.
  • Experience navigating NJ Department of Community Affairs (DCA) local code compliance documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Travel to assigned New Jersey townships to drop off HVAC permit applications in person, ensuring all documents are complete, properly organized, and submitted to the correct department.
  • Pick up approved permits, rejection notices, or pending correspondence from the township building and inspection departments.
  • Communicate professionally with township clerks, building department staff, and code officials to answer basic questions, provide missing information, or relay status updates back to the office.
  • Maintain a daily log of all permit submissions, pick-ups, and township interactions, including dates, permit numbers, and contact names.
  • Escalate unresolved issues or complex questions from township officials to the appropriate permit coordinator or project manager in a timely manner.
  • Plan efficient daily routes across multiple municipalities to minimize travel time and maximize permit processing turnaround.
  • Handle permit documents with care and maintain the confidentiality of all application materials at all times.
