About The Position

The Business Education Teacher delivers relevant, real-world instruction in business, finance, career readiness, and digital literacy to support college, career, and workforce preparedness. Instruction may include coursework in entrepreneurship, accounting, marketing, management, business communications, business law, personal finance, and college and career planning. Topics may include budgeting, investing, taxes, financial literacy, resume development, and interview preparation. The educator also provides instruction in digital tools and business technology, including Microsoft Office 365, Google Workspace, and other industry-relevant platforms, with an emphasis on productivity, communication, and professional application in academic and workplace settings.

Requirements

  • Valid Pennsylvania teaching certificate in the appropriate area of certification
  • 3.0 or higher QPA
  • Proof of ongoing professional or educational experience
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Creative, innovative and a lifelong learner

Responsibilities

  • Delivers rigorous, standards-aligned instruction in business, computer, and information technology that prepares students for success in college, career, and the modern workforce.
  • Designs and implements high-quality learning experiences grounded in the Understanding by Design framework, emphasizing critical thinking, problem-solving, and authentic application.
  • Develops student proficiency in business technology platforms, including Microsoft Office 365, Google Workspace, and other industry-relevant digital tools essential for academic and professional success.
  • Creates relevant, project-based learning experiences that require students to apply business, financial, and technology concepts to complex, real-world scenarios.
  • Maintains high expectations for student learning, performance, and accountability while differentiating instruction to ensure all students are appropriately challenged and supported.
  • Cultivates strong written, verbal, and digital communication skills through frequent opportunities for professional writing, presentation, collaboration, and research.
  • Integrates financial literacy, business communication, and career readiness into instruction to ensure students are equipped with practical, transferable skills for postsecondary success.
  • Analyzes student performance data to drive instructional decisions, ensure mastery, and accelerate student growth.
  • Maintains accurate, timely, and comprehensive records of student attendance, performance, and achievement using district-approved systems and platforms.
  • Establishes and sustains a structured, respectful, and academically focused learning environment defined by high expectations for engagement, conduct, and achievement.
  • Communicates proactively and professionally with students, families, and colleagues to support student growth, reinforce accountability, and strengthen school-home partnerships.
  • Collaborates with colleagues, counselors, and support staff to address student needs, strengthen interventions, and promote academic and postsecondary success.
  • Contributes to continuous program improvement through curriculum refinement, innovation, and alignment to evolving business, technology, and workforce demands.
  • Expands student learning through career-connected experiences, enrichment opportunities, and relevant co-curricular engagement.
  • Demonstrates professionalism through ongoing learning, reflective practice, and active engagement in professional growth aligned to district priorities.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned by the building principal or designee in support of school and district goals.
